How to Read the Dwellers and Country Sagas

As the release of the 7th and final book, The Earth Dwellers, in my combined Dwellers/Country Sagas looms closer, I'm getting tons of questions on how to read the combined series. Do you read all three Dwellers books, and then the Country Saga? Or can you read the Country Saga first, and then the Dwellers series? Or, if you're feeling particularly crazy, can you alternate reading a book in each series until you get to the end?

The Answer: Those are all valid options!

The way it works is that the Dwellers and Country Sagas are sister series, which means that they take place in the same overall world (sort of) and time (mostly), but that the characters, settings, and plotlines are completely different. They're different series, so to speak.

HOWEVER...

At some point THE TWO SERIES COME TOGETHER! That's right, the characters meet, the plots merge, the action of both series becomes one book, called The Earth Dwellers, which comes out on September 5th everywhere ebooks are sold and in print on Amazon.com.

So the short answer is that you can read the books in any order that you want, and they won't spoil each other. There's no real benefit to reading either one of the series first. So just pick the first one that looks interesting, and get reading! And don't stop until you've read all six books in the two series and you're ready for the release of The Earth Dwellers. Trust me, it's going to be epic!!

Here's a full list of the books you need to read to catch up:

The Dwellers Saga:
1- The Moon Dwellers
2- The Star Dwellers
3- The Sun Dwellers

The Country Saga:
1- Fire Country
2- Ice Country
3- Water & Storm Country

ENJOY and I can't wait to see your reviews of each book on Goodreads and Amazon.com!!!

  3. David, I randomly stumbled upon your books and I am so so glad I did. You are about to completely blow up in popularity and I'm so proud to say I found you beforehand! I'm so beyond excited for the Earth Dwellers! You don't happen to need another beta reader, do you? :) even the two day wait from today until Thursday is too much!
You're a rock star and I look forward to reading your books for a long, long time!!

  4. You're officially my new best friend!

In all seriousness though, thank you. Your comment means A LOT to me. I work very hard at what I do and to hear that you appreciate it...well, that feels good :)

I really appreciate the offer to beta, but I do have a full team at the moment. However, are you on Goodreads? If so, send me a link to your Goodreads profile and I'll send you a direct message on there, as I might want to chat with you about something else ;)

I'm so glad you stumbled on my books!!

  5. Just at the end of water and storm country, haven't started the dwellers saga at all and then [SPOILER]

The two main characters from moon and Sun dwellers are there. I guess it's not much of a spoiler as first person narrators don't tend to do but it still takes the tension out of the two books slightly :(

PS. I do love books and will mOst likely be buying moon dwellers despite this, but I just wanted to point this out.

If you did read this, thanks for taking the time to do so

    1. Thanks for your support, Mumin! Unfortunately, this was always going to be a necessary evil if I was going to have the two series meet up. Depending on which series you read first, you'll reach the point where they meet (either the end of Water and Storm Country OR the end of The Sun Dwellers) with a slightly different mindset. In any case, I hope you enjoy the rest of the adventure, especially The Earth Dwellers when the stories come together!

    2. Thanks for the reply.
I finished the series now and Earth Dwellers really was a most spectacular end (sound like Elsey here).
      [SPOILER]

I guess I was wrong about first person narrators not dying, was a really unexpected event that gave the story a massive dose of realism (not that it wasn't realistic already).

In other words, thanks for an amazing series!

    1. Thanks very much for your kind words and support, Ken! I also agree that the narrators did a fantastic job with the script. I'm lucky to have gotten them for this project! So here's the thing...the audiobook publisher who produced the three Dwellers audiobooks also temporarily owns the rights to the last four audiobooks. Thus far they have shown no interest in producing the last four books, although that might change as the audio series grows more popular. However, if they do not choose to produce the last four audiobooks, the rights will eventually revert back to me and I will be able to produce them myself. One way or another, the audio series will eventually be completed, but you may have to wait a while. If you ever get the itch to read the rest of the series, rather than listen, I'd love to hear what you think! Thanks again for stopping by my site!

  7. I'm having the same problem as Ken! Just finished listening to the Dwellers Saga through Audible and would love to listen to the other four books now. Any chance there's been an update on plans from the audiobook publishers?

There HAS been an update from my publisher and the wheels are finally turning on production of the next three books, Fire Country, Ice Country, and Water & Storm Country! I don't have release dates yet, but I should have them soon, and as soon as I do I'll share them on my blog, Facebook page, and all other social media. Thanks for your patience and I can't wait to give you the rest of the Saga to listen to!!!
